Procurement

Procurement logistics is fundamentally about finding the raw materials needed to make things. In other words, this section of the supply chain is concerned with acquiring the operating supplies, auxiliary supplies, replacement components, raw materials, and other necessities for the manufacturing process. However, procurement logistics include more than just the acquisition of materials. Additionally, it manages the organization, shipment, and storage of these commodities to and from the warehouse. In order to maintain acquisition costs as low as possible, the procurement logistics team is also in charge of product sourcing and selection criteria, terms and conditions, communication, and purchase strategies.
